Embracing white — Babylight grey-blend instead of dyeing it black
52-yo lawyer, white-hair maintenance · ~6 visits/year

Consultation
Lily, 52, is a practising lawyer with about 30% white hair. For seven years she'd been hiding it under dark brown root touch-ups every three weeks—huge damage and time cost. She wanted to stop hiding white and start blending it. We proposed a Babylight grey-blend: leave her natural whites as 'organic highlights' and use Babylight to weave cool grey into the dark sections, so the whites read as intentional designer high-light, not 'a problem to mask'.
Formula
Dark-section Babylight: Wella Blondor + 20 vol, ultra-fine pattern at ~60% density. Toner: 6/16 cool grey-brown + 7/89 mixed 2:1 with 10 vol, focused on killing red-brown undertones in the dark sections. White sections receive no colour. Olaplex No.1 + No.2 throughout.
Process
3.5 hours: 25 min consult + white-section mapping → 70 min Babylight (ultra-fine density takes time) → 35 min processing → 25 min rinse + Olaplex → 25 min toner → 25 min final rinse + treatment → 25 min blow-dry. Hot tea and snacks mid-session.
Aftercare
White-hair playbook: root touch-up every 5–6 weeks (only the newly grown dark sections); monthly purple shampoo to neutralise yellow; regular Olaplex; minimise heat styling. Maintenance: small touch-up every 6–8 weeks, full Babylight refresh every 3–4 months.
Client Story
Lily later told us: 'Before, I'd look in the mirror and think I'm old, I need to hide it. Now I think this silver is the look I chose, it's my style. The mindset shift is huge.' That case opened a small 'embracing white gracefully' segment—over 30 clients aged 50+ have moved from dark brown root touch-ups to Babylight grey blending.
