My colourist journey began in Hong Kong as an apprentice, with year after year of weekends devoted to advanced training. Across the years I studied at international hair academies in the United Kingdom and Korea, alternating between the structural logic of British precision cutting and the refined layered sensibility of Korean colour. What I really learned was never just technique—it was the discipline of reading the person before reading the hair: every section, every bleach ratio, every brush angle and every final blow-dry choice has to belong to the individual in the chair.

Across my years working in Hong Kong I have seen too many clients trapped by the belief that bleaching equals damage—and miss the chance to wear truly nuanced colour. So I distilled 25 years of knowledge gathered from British and Korean academies into a healthy-bleach SOP made for Asian hair: assess elasticity and porosity first, protect every bond with Olaplex throughout, lift slowly with low-volume developer, and split a transformation across two or three sessions if needed. Never a hard, single-pass bleach—this is the promise I make to every guest who sits down.

Canvas Blend is the natural extension of that philosophy. I chose a private ground-floor street shop at 252 Hollywood Road, Sheung Wan, accepting only a handful of guests each day by appointment, because when you trust your hair to a colourist you deserve an unhurried, undistracted block of time. I spend thirty-plus minutes in consultation—hair elasticity, undertone, facial proportions, wardrobe and working rhythm—before tailoring both your colour formula and your British-Korean inspired cut.

Looking ahead, I hope Canvas Blend becomes more than a Sheung Wan and Central hair colour salon—I want it to be a quiet sanctuary on Hong Kong Island where women slow down and reconnect with themselves.
