Consultation

Janice, 31, is a wedding planner—getting married herself in 8 weeks. She wanted 'a rose-gold glow under the white gown, but not over the top, something her parents would accept'. Bridal hair colour is among the highest-stakes work in this industry—a failed trial directly impacts the most important day of someone's life. We did a 45-minute consult: 3 dress fittings, venue lighting (outdoor daylight vs indoor candle), photographer's colour-temperature preference, parental expectations, bridesmaids' colour balance. Conclusion: light rose-gold over a smoky milk-tea base—pink glow under camera light, soft milk-tea by daylight.

Formula

Balayage section: Wella Blondor + 20 vol, ~50% density. Toner: 8/86 light pearl + 9/96 pink-grey + 0.5 g rose-gold booster mixed 2:1:0.1 with 5 vol. Base deepening: small amount of 6/71 cool brown to stabilise the root. Olaplex throughout + treatment-only check-ins at 4 weeks, 2 weeks, and 1 week before the wedding.

Process

5-hour trial: 45 min consult + dress colour matching → 75 min balayage → 45 min processing → 25 min rinse + Olaplex → 35 min toner → 25 min final rinse + treatment → 40 min styling trial (three bridal styles photographed for the photographer to approve) → 30 min client tea + adjustments.

Aftercare

Strict 8-week pre-wedding care: weekly Olaplex No.3, bi-weekly purple shampoo (to keep rose-gold from fading to yellow), monthly in-salon treatment (included in trial fee), final care + minor tone adjustment one week before the wedding. No high-heat styling within 6 hours of the ceremony.

Client Story

On the wedding day Janice sent us the photos—the photographer caught sunlight through the church stained glass falling on her hair; the rose-gold glow against the white gown looked like an oil painting. She later tagged us on IG with: 'Finally I understand—a colourist's expertise matters as much as wedding planning. NEO at Canvas Blend understood me better than I understood myself.' That post brought us nine bride-to-be clients.
